Place red onions (if using) in the bottom of the slow cooker. Lay the chicken on top. Sprinkle with garlic, oregano, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Drizzle olive oil over it and top with lemon slices. Add the broth.

Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is very tender.
